Leonessa
Leonessa, as well as being an important stage of the Way of St. Benedict it is a place rich in history, art and culture.
Here for example, you can admire the Church of Saint Peter.
Dating from the fifteenth century, it is part of the Way of St. Benedict. Has annexed an Augustinian convent in 1400 and inside it is possible to appreciate many works of high interest as a XVI century painting of Giacomo Siciliano dedicated to the Assumption, the painting by Giovanni Lanfranco “Madonna and Child with Saints Charles, Catherine and Augustine” a painting attributed to Orbetto.
In the underground there are also two chapels abisdate in which are kept a wooden copy of Michelangelo’s Pity, and a Deposition in polychrome terracotta by De Nino.
